About Our Speaker

Jesse Thompson

Jesse Thompson is the Business Economist for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas/Houston Branch where he conducts research and collects information for the trusted Beige Book of the Dallas Fed, published eight times per year with regional reports on current economic conditions in the 11th District that includes Texas.

The regional Feds survey businesses in their districts and collect information, tidbits and “eyeball evidence” from interviews with key business contacts, economists, market experts and others sources to compile the Beige Book on regional business conditions. Once an obscure document, the Beige Book is now a regular feature of business and economic news pages with oracular properties for many media and Fed watchers.

Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas Seal

Jesse earned his MA in Economics from the University of Houston with special focus on empirical microeconomics, public economics, labor and education, and a BA in Philosophy & Economics from U of H.
